We visited the National Museum of Industrial History in Bethlehem Pennsylvania
during a run day. This is an event that only occurs a few times a year.
It was quite a thrill to see the Snow water pump run.

Snow Steam Pump
The Snow Steam Pump Works in Buffalo, NY built this steam driven water pump using a compound engine with two double acting cylinders. The machine weighs about 115 tons and pumped water at about 8 million gallons a day from 1914 into the 1950s at the York, PA water company.
Here it is running on compressed air and only the high pressure cylinder is actually acting.
In addition to a shrill single note whistle here on the steam feed to the engine, one occasionally hears a railroad locomotive style chime whistle. That is tapped into the line from a truck mounted compressor just outside the windows.

Printing Press
This is a "portable" steam boiler and engine, though in fact it is still a pretty heavy power source. Here the leather belt supplies power to a small printing press. Note that as the inking rollers complete a pass, the round plate that supplies ink turns about 15° or so as to even out the distribution of ink.

Ribbon Loom
This is a motorized loom that can produce multiple strips of decorative ribbon.

Live Steam Models
Here running on compressed air. Many of these come from a donated collection.
